Today we'll hear Marvin's 2015 interview with author, teacher, and theologian,

Albert Mueller.

Mueller is president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

He's authored many books and also has his own popular podcast, The Briefing.

Mueller is known for his cultural and political commentary and for his work defending orthodoxy in his own denomination.

Time has called him the reigning intellectual of the evangelical movement in the U.S.

He's also a World Board member. Marvin Olasky joins us now to set up this interview with Al-Muller.

Hi, Marvin. Hi, Jill. Well, Al-Muller is someone you probably know fairly well now, but how well

did you know him when you did this interview? Oh, not well at all. I think we had

met once. This was before he joined the World Board. So I've become familiar with him now,

occasionally seeing him, but mostly listening to him every morning on the briefing. My wife and I

walk our dog named Greeley after the 19th century editor Horace Greeley. We listened to the world and everything in it, and then we listened to the briefing.

So what stood out to you about this conversation?

I'm just astounded that Al Moller is able to speak extemporaneously in complete sentences.

I don't do it.

There are a few people who do it, but most people I know,

we start, we stop, we hum, we err, we do this and that. He just is astounding that way.

In this interview, I asked him, well, how do you do this, this 20 minutes every day, how long does it

take you to do your script? I mean, those were the things that were in my mind.

And he just said he talks it through.
