He's arrested by unidentified agents from an unspecified agency for an unspecified crime.

1984 by George Orwell shows us a dystopia

where the residents of what was formerly known as Great Britain

are dictated to by a political regime known as English socialism.

The super state of which this former Great Britain is apart

is under the control of the privileged elite of the inner party.

A party and government that persecutes individualism

and independent thinking is thought crime. There are several other

examples of this kind of story examining the relationship between the individual and the state

with the state being this all-powerful, all-controlling thing.

I'm no scholar of these stories, but just as parts of the Twilight Zone have leaked out

into the public consciousness and become part of our vocabulary,

so too have many of these, especially 1984 by George Orwell.
