Section 740. Facing 20 years, trade deadline extended, and a sound of history is no longer that's all coming up then bill's going

to be here with your message of the day but first here's the background to this the u.s. constitution

gives congress the power over washington dc it's article one section a clause 17 this section gives

the congress the power to find a piece of land and govern over it.

Fast forward to 1973, Congress allowed D.C. to elect its own mayor and counsel, but Congress

only gave up some of their powers. And even in that, Section 740 is the Emergency Powers Act,

where the president can bypass all local control and take this constitutional

power back entirely. Or as the president put it, I'm announcing an action to rescue our nation's

capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor. And worse, as an example of being tough on crime,

a California man faces 20 years in prison for allegedly striking a border

agent with a piece of cinder block. Maybe you've seen videos of these anti-ice agents intentionally

chipping away at a cinder block to get pieces and throwing at ice. Jacob Daniel Tadasaz,

a 30-year-old resident of Paramount California, threw a rock and hit an ice agent in the shin.

The U.S. attorney of that region said, we will not stand by while our brave federal

agents and officers get hurt.

If you injure an officer enforcing immigration law, you may serve 20 years in a federal

prison cell.

It's just not worth it.

More than two dozen suspects have been charged with assaulting federal agents in recent

weeks just in California and Oregon alone. Just hours before the deadline was to go into effect,
