Summary

Nova Scotia, April 18-19, 2020 Over a period of thirteen hours 51 year old denturist Gabriel Wortman, dressed as a police officer and driving a replica police car, carried out Canada’s most deadly act of mass murder. In this ongoing series Nighttime will explore the many elements of this tragic story. What happened, why it happened, and what could have been done to stop him. In this episode, I avoid the many rabbit holes and contested facts to present an abridged telling of the “official” version of the Nova Scotia Mass Shooting. Hello listeners! As many of you know, I've been covering the Nova Scotia Mass Shooting since the events occurred in April of 2020

1:06.0

Since then, I've released in the area of 40 episodes exploring and examining the ever-evolving story of Canada's worst act of mass murder

1:15.0

But not even considering the horrific details of this story, this has been a challenge to share and podcast form

1:22.0

And I've already hinted to those problems in the opening

1:25.0

First off, this story, perhaps more than any other I can think of, is ever-evolving, with even the most fundamental details having shifted during the roughly two years since the killings

1:36.0

The official version, which has come primarily through RCMP statements and documents, has had more corrections, contradictions, and flat out false statements than would seem possible

1:49.0

So needless to say, as time passed and new information surfaced, my prior episodes quickly became out of date

1:57.0

Well, more than out of date, some details, once thought fact, have been proven to be pure fiction, inserted into the official narrative by unknown people for still uncertain reasons

2:09.0

The other problem with the prior episodes I've released has simply been the quantity

2:14.0

As the story changed and developments occurred, I released almost weekly episodes tackling the ever-changing beast

2:22.0

For those closely following, it's worked remarkably well, but for those new to the series, well, it's probably a bit overwhelming to have 50-ish hours of listening ahead of you before you get to the present version of the truth

2:36.0

So yeah, basically, I want to fix it, and the time to fix it is now

2:41.0

The timing, it's important now because this act of mass murder and the RCMP's handling of it are the subject of a public inquiry that's scheduled to begin late January
