It's been ten years since that night, yet it remains as vivid in my mind as if it happened yesterday.

I worked as a nurse in a small rural hospital, a place built more for comfort than cutting-edge

care. It wasn't fancy, but it was home to those who needed it most. Elderly patients in their

final stages of life. The nights were quiet, sometimes eerily so,

and that's where my story begins. The hospital had an old charm to it, at least that's what

people called it, to soften the fact that the building was outdated. The long, dimly lit corridors

echoed with every footstep and the faint scent of disinfectant clung to the air.

Most of the rooms were occupied by patients too weak to move, and our job on the night shift was to ensure their final days were as dignified and comfortable as possible.
