It's been an eventful, at times bewildering, and a tragic week here in the nation's capital.

In moments like this, the differences between Americans fade to nothing compared to the bonds of affection and loyalty

that unite us all, both as Americans and even as nations. We're all overcome with the grief

for many who have so tragically perished. President Donald Trump's first news conference

from the White House briefing room began with a moment of silence in honor of the

lives lost on Wednesday when an American Eagle flight carrying 60 passengers and four crew members

collided midair with an Army Black Hawk helicopter near National Airport in Washington, D.C. There

were three service members on board that army helicopter.

President Trump confirmed that there were no survivors. Now, the news conference started off somber,
