Summary

The first stimulus package was a lifeline for millions of Americans. The beginning of July means we've got just a few more weeks before all those benefits expire. Unlike when the first bill passed in March, Congress is divided on whether people need another stimulus. Plus, shake-ups on the Trump campaign rattle an already chaotic White House. And, new data shows more inland homes are at risk of flooding than expected. Guests: Axios' Dion Rabouin, Mike Allen, and Amy Harder. Credits: "Axios Today" is produced in partnership with Pushkin Industries. The team includes Niala Boodhoo, Sara Kehaulani Goo, Carol Alderman, Cara Shillenn, Naomi Shavin, Nuria Marquez Martinez and Alex Sugiura. Music is composed by Evan Viola. atrocious month and April. But here's what's happening now. Unlike in March,

1:29.6

there's not bipartisan agreement that people need more stimulus help, even though we're still

1:34.6

experiencing jobless rates we haven't seen since the Great Depression.

1:38.9

The Republicans say that unemployment has stayed so high because people don't want to go back to work because

1:44.8

the unemployment benefits have been too high.

1:47.1

Whereas the Democrats say people aren't going back to work because they can't, because there aren't

1:50.5

jobs and because the small businesses aren't bringing them back.

1:54.6

Something else is different from March. The stock market isn't tanking but the opposite.
