So I'm a basic scientist.

I do behavioral pharmacology and genetics,

but I'm also a recovering drug addict.

I hit bottom in my early 20s, went to treatment,

thought I would cure addiction,

which is why I became a neuroscientist.

20 years later, you know, hadn't gotten that far.
