I'm really happy to have you here.

So it was June 1942, which means obviously we are in the thick of it

in terms of World War II.

June 1942 in a German submarine, a German U-boat,

turned up in the Hamptons.

A German submarine hit a sandbar, a hundred yards off the coast in Amagansit, which is on

Long Island in the Hamptons in New York.

And this German Nazi submarine drops off four guys, four saboteurs. And we know they were saboteurs because

they came ashore in a raft that was launched from that submarine.

Once they hit the beach and am against it,

they buried the raft.

They also buried what they'd brought ashore with them,

which was a big cache of explosives and detonators.

And then they got away.

So that was mid-June, 1942.

Then a few days later, four days later, another Nazi submarine turned up elsewhere on

the American East Coast. This time it was in Pontovidra Beach just outside Jacksonville, Florida.

And again, another German submarine, a German U-boat,

turned up offshore and dropped off another four guys,

four more trained saboteurs.
