It is Wednesday, December 11th, 2024. Let's get into the mix. Here are your Washington headlines of the day. Number one, the NDAA-CR endgame moves.

And number three, another busy day for Trump's nominees.

Let's get into it.

The House will vote today on the NDAA, which isn't being called the service member

quality of life improvement and national defense

authorization act. That's a, you know, they got to work on the branding here. This is HR

5,09, but that is what they're calling it. And this is the final act for this must pass measure.

It's not going to be simple. The two parties have clashed over

top-line defense bending and cultural war provisions, complicating the final talks on the legislation

that Congress has improved every year for more than six decades. A last-minute intervention by

Mike Johnson, barring gender-affirming care for the children of military families,

has upset Democrats as well as some Republicans. The NDAA comes in at $884 billion, which is 1%

above last year's total. That's in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Act, that budget deal cut

by Kevin McCarthy and Joe Biden. And there's another $11 billion in defense funding

...
