Day three of exploring Washington, D.C.

Off the beaten path and today's walk in an area that has changed dramatically over the last decade or so.

Today's 10-minute walk starts right after this.

Today's walk, or at least a good chunk of it, is going to happen along the river, the Anacostia River.

We're in an area that is known as the Navy Yard.

There actually is a U.S. Naval installation here called the Navy Yard.

But then the community around that has changed pretty dramatically over the last 15 years.

And primarily because of baseball.

So I can see the Anacostia River and a lot of boat slips and a seating area and some restaurants.

I don't know how many years ago, but the baseball team for Washington, D.C., the Washington

Nationals, their stadium is down here in the Navy Yard.

In fact, I can see a portion of it as I'm walking across a pedestrian bridge.

My son and I, Christopher, came down here maybe 14 years ago to catch a game.

Game between the Nationals and our team, the Orioles. And I remember as we were walking from the parking lot to the stadium,

there was a lot of construction going on.

And I could tell that this area is going to go through some tremendous changes over the years.

And was kind of interested to see how that transpired.

And I would say it's largely done.

There's probably still some construction somewhere in the Navy Yard area.

But a lot of expensive condos.

You've got restaurants, you've got shops, you've got marinas with the boats.
