There have been a wide variety of calendars in world history, and there are many calendars in use today. So how do they work? How have they changed over time and how did we get

our own calendar? And that's what we'll be talking about on this episode of Jimmy Aiken's

Mysterious World. Jimmy, I understand you wanted to begin today's episode with a personal story.

What did you want to tell us?

Well, this kind of fulfills the personal connection that we often mention at the beginning

of episodes.

Now, obviously, everyone has a personal connection with the year since we all experience

it annually, in fact.

But I've had a special interest in the year ever since I was small.

In particular, I've had a special interest in calendars and timekeeping systems, not just the

one we use here in America, but ones used all around the world and in different times.
