In 1900, a baby was born to a poor family in the Mexican state of Helisco.

The baby's name was Terebio Romo and he would grow up to be a priest.

But by the time of his priesthood, the Mexican state had begun persecuting the Catholic Church

and Terebio Romo was murdered by Mexican federal soldiers for being a priest.

In 1992, he was beatified and in the year 2000, John Paul II canonized him as a saint.

But there's an ongoing mystery surrounding St. Terebio Romo.

So who was he? What happened in his life? And what's that strange mystery that surrounds him today?

That's what we'll be talking about on this episode of Jimmy Aiken's mysterious world.

And Jimmy, what do you want to say about today's mystery before we begin?

Well, I want to say that at first it won't seem like a mystery.

It'll seem like we're just telling the life story of a saint.

It's a story with some very dramatic elements, but it won't initially seem to involve a mystery.

However, even though we have a faith perspective on the show,

mysterious world is about mysteries.

I don't do purely religious stories on the show.
