This was a period marked by foreclosures, plummeting home values, and economic despair.

In years leading up to the crash, many homebuyers

purchased properties they couldn't sustain long term. When housing prices began to fall in 2006 and

2007, homeowners found themselves underwater, which means they owed more on their mortgage than their

home was worth.

This led to tremendous stress for many homeowners. They often owed more than the house could

reasonably be sold for. There was a significant uptick in foreclosures, vandalism, and desperate

people. In many instances, realtors were blamed

for the losses incurred by homeowners, and sometimes this led to violence. Come with me to July 1st,
