Summary

In 1971 Ralph Dean Templeton, known as “Dean” decided to leave his life in Flint, Michigan behind. He set out on a cross country journey in an unsuccessful bid to become the 38th president of the United States.

In January of 1975 Templeton was murdered- shot and left on the side of the road in rural Washington.

This episode was inspired by a thread on the Unresolved Mysteries Subreddit.

1:02.0	Whatever the case, Templeton believed it was true.
1:07.4	It wasn't too long after he turned 40 and just a few weeks after the passing of his 63-year-old father that he decided it was possible,
1:15.5	that he could hold the highest office in the land, that his ideas and his ideals were what our country needed.
1:24.0	Templeton decided that he, a father, a factory worker, a regular guy from the suburbs of Flint, Michigan, could be president.
1:32.0	He just needed to get the word out. Flint, Michigan, could be President.
1:33.0	He just needed to get the word out, to let people know that there was another option.
1:38.1	A guy just like them, just like you and me.
1:42.0	This guy could lead our country in the right direction.
1:46.7	So come with me to the earliest days of the 1970s
1:51.2	when Richard Nixon held the White House, and he was challenged for that seat by many men, including South Dakota Senator George McGovern, and 41-year-old Dean Templeton.
