My name is Jeff, and today Aaron and I are going to

explain the entire mountain bike industry to you. Well, maybe not the whole thing, but a lot of people

wonder if there's like a big, fat corporate underbelly to the mountain bike industry.

And a lot of times you'll hear to people accusing companies of being profit hungry

and, you know, really playing mountain bikers for fools by introducing new standards and more

expensive bikes. And so we're going to explore that idea a little bit and offer our own

experiences and perspectives on it. That's right. Get out your tinfoil hats. Yes. So I'd like to start

off the discussion by talking about sort of the roots of the mountain bike industry and how it got

started. You know, unlike a lot of other industries, the mountain bike industry kind of got

started as a hobby, right? It was not really rooted in

capitalism necessarily. Yeah, not really to begin with. It was a bunch of, I mean, for lack of a

better term, I guess, stoners that were out in California and hippies. Hippies. Dirty, dirty hippies

out riding their bikes down hills and wanted to go fast.

And so they were, your mountain bikes didn't even really exist.
