In February of 1994, Detective Sergeant Snow Robertson of the Odessa Texas Police Department pulled his patrol car into the vacant lot at 2,700 Van Street.

He'd been dispatched to the sun-baked West Texas Industrial Park after the police department received a call from a distressed trucker.

Robertson's men had already blocked off the lot by the time he arrived.

quarantined an area where a large mass was lying,

covered by a tarp.

The detective bent down, stealing himself

before he peeled away the covering.

Underneath was the face of a woman,

late 30s with dirty blonde hair.

Denise Brothers, a local sex worker.

The Odessa P.D. knew her well.

Considering the bruising around her throat, Robertson immediately suspected foul play.

He walked the crime scene by himself, photographing every inch, tagging every piece of possible evidence.

He placed plastic bags around her hands, zipped her into a black body bag, and lifted her gently into the back of

the corner's fan.

Detective Robertson spent the next few weeks combing through evidence.
