I want everyone to turn to Luke chapter 2.

Luke chapter 2, I just want to highlight this passage, and then we're actually going to be in Galatians

for really the duration of our teaching.

But Luke chapter 2 to kind of set the scene.

And again, as we get closer to Christmas, we've had these themes that we're talking about,

and last time we looked at the promises of God in the Old Testament, how they become fulfilled in the new. And today we're going to look at this,

what we've entitled, this monumental moment. It's a moment, the moment, that changed the course

of history forever. And that's the birth of Jesus. What was so unique about this moment

that people, you know, throughout centuries always talk about?

And we're going to just dissect it as much as we can on why Jesus came, but why he came when he did.

That's the biggest question that we're going to tackle.

But Luke chapter 2, verse 1, let's just set the scene.

See what the Bible has to say.

It says, verse 1, and it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar

Augustus, that all the world should be registered.

This census first took place while Cornelius was governing Syria.

And so all went out to be registered, everyone to his own city.

Joseph also went up from Galilee out of the city of

Nazareth into Judea to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house

and lineage of David. To be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife who was with child, so it was

that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought
