Today we meditate on the account of the apparition of Mary in the miraculous medal

as recounted by St. Maximilian Colby.

The incident took place in Paris on the Rue de Bauk in the mother house of the Sisters of Charity.

The Lucky Soul to whom the Immaculata entrusted this mission was the young novice Catherine Labore.

Catherine was born on May 2, 1806. her parents, honest farmers, gave their children a very religious upbringing.

At 8, Catherine lost her mother and put herself even more under the protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

At 12, she received her first Holy Communion in the parish church.

Deepener soul, however, a desire for another life. A life totally consecrated to Jesus was germinated and growing.

A strange dream made her even more steadfast in her resolve to become a nun.

To realize her goal, at the age of 18 she learned to read and write and finally in the

year 1830 in spite of accumulating obstacles after completing her time as a postulant she entered.

The Noviship, in her childlike simplicity, she much longed to see the most blessed

Virgin Mary while still in this life and ardently prayed to her guardian angel,

St Vincent and the Immaculate Virgin to obtain that grace.

During the night, between July 18 and July 19, she heard clearly at first, a second and a third voice calling her.
