Hello, creatives. I'm Joanna Penn. And this is episode number 568 of the podcast. And it is Sunday the 8th of August 2021 as I record this,

0:41.2

and date stamping it is very important. So today's show is about Web 3.0, VR, A, R, the Metaverse,

0:50.2

and the Spatial Web. Yes, lots of fun, fun words today when learning new language. This is a

0:57.9

special futurist in-betweeny-sode on what many are basically calling Web 3.0 and it encompasses all

1:04.6

these different things. And this episode is intended to give you an awareness of what is coming

1:09.5

in the next few years as opposed to specific

1:12.0

advice on what to do about it, since this really is an emerging area. So I've learned from other

1:18.2

futurist episodes, people are like, oh, I went and did this. And I'm like, you weren't really

going to look like in the next decade. So that's what we're talking about. So I'm going to start

1:39.1

by going into definitions of this new language. Then I'll share a chapter from my futurist book, which I

1:45.8

narrated, artificial intelligence, blockchain and virtual worlds, the impact of converging

1:51.3

technologies on authors and the publishing industry available on all the usual platforms in all the

1:56.6

usual formats. Now, because I've narrated this book, and I have a chapter on virtual worlds,

2:02.0

and I'm going to include that. So after the narrated chapter, I'll talk about the developments

2:08.0

since I wrote it in December 2020. So we're only eight months from when I wrote the chapter,

2:14.2

but things have moved so much faster than I expected.
