I am in Jerusalem and right now I am in the upper room.

The place of the Last Su, the institution of the Eucharist, the new

commandment to love the way God loves, a place where Jesus appeared after the resurrection, gave the

Apostles the power to forgive sins, but it's also the place of the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and it became the

first Catholic Church in the world, this upper room.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son of the Holy Spirit.

Let's call the mind all those that we've promised to pray for, especially Olivia Canili and

Margo for their healing to the intercession of blessed Pauline Jericho.

This is the room where Jesus performed his greatest miracle and instructed that

it be performed again and again through the priest.

This miracle turning ordinary bread and wine into the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus.

What the church calls the source and summit of our Christian life.

The Eucharist is the source of our life.

That means that the Eucharist is what is capable of being the foundation of our life as

Christians and it can also it should also take us to the heights of sanctity. But we can also abuse it. St. Paul writes, in 1st Corinthians, for I receive from the Lord what I also

delivered to you that the Lord Jesus on the night that he was betrayed took

bread and when he had given thanks he broke it and said,

this is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me. In the same way also the cup after supper saying this cup is

the new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance
