It was a Monday morning, September 18, 2006, and an employee of Dinabrade, a factory that made

pneumatic abrasive power tools as well as thousands of other industrial products and parts,

was arriving at his shift in Clarence, New York. The worker noticed there was a truck

parked in a remote area of the parking lot.

They went up to have a closer look, and this person was horrified to see three bullet holes in the driver's side window of that truck.

Inside that truck, there was the body of a young man slumped over in the driver's seat.

Police arrived on the scene, and they later determined that this was the body of Brian Barrett,

a 22-year-old part-time machinist at the plant.

Brian had taken the job according to his family, mainly as a way to get some extra cash,

so he could help pay for his education.

Police were stumped because co-workers and friends

describe Brian as just basically a quiet, nice guy who worked hard. He was also in school full

time at Buffalo State College. Brian was handsome and athletic. He was active in high school sports.

And he was an accomplished athlete.

He helped his dad coach soccer, according to CBS News.

And he also coached Little League in his spare time.

Investigators put together a timeline.

They determined that Brian left work shortly after 10 p.m. on Friday night at the end of his shift.

He had been shot shortly after that.

Brian was hit three times, twice in the neck and once in the arm. Because Brian had made no specific

plans for the weekend and lived alone, and because the windows were tinted, no one noticed that he was

missing. No one saw that he was missing.
