On August 30th, 2010, a firefighter was on a day off in Bracebridge, Ontario, in Canada.

He launched a boat out on the water from the public launching dock, and then, while he was out on the water,

he saw a plastic container washed up on the shore of the Muscoa River.

Bracebridge was a little town that was built around a waterfall. It's very picturesque,

and a lot of people have cottages there. According to Toronto Life, the firefighter pulled the boat

up to get a closer look at what was on shore.

He thought that maybe someone had ditched some trash there.

He was going to see what it was and pick it up.

But then when he got closer, he noticed something strange.

He saw blue and pink latex gloves.

He could also see two black garbage bags and some plastic reusable shopping totes.

Then he got a shock because he saw something else. In between those bags of what he first thought was simple trash, he saw a body part. It was later confirmed to be a human knee. Police came and roped off the crime scene.

Testing would later reveal that this was the body of 55-year-old Paul Masland.

Paul had been reported missing to the Toronto Police Service that same day.
