We're going all the way back to the 16th of February, 1978, for today's case.

We're in Altus, Oklahoma.

It's been a cold winter and it's no different on this February evening.

A quiet convenience store on Falcon Road would become the stage for a crime that would haunt the town

for decades. A man called John David Duty, who was just 25 years old at the time, had met his

accomplice Anthony Trombitus only days earlier. It's not really clear how the pair met, it's not

widely reported or reported at all, actually.

But what is clear is that their initial meeting was brief and opportunistic.

And they somehow soon discovered that they were both on the same page.

They wanted money and they wanted it quickly and they didn't care what they had to do to get it.

The Jiffy Mart on Falcon Road looked like any other small town convenience store.
