The Donnelly family believed that the world was ending, but in the end, it wasn't the

apocalypse coming for them. It was the mother. This is Red Rum, stories about the true victims

so you never miss an episode. From the outside in, the Donnellys looked like a really

close-knit family. There was the mother and father, Hannah Grette and Christopher, and they had

four children. Hannah Grette worked as a midwife and Christopher worked as a music teacher.

Now, this was pretty much their way of life leading through their children's early years,

but things started to change around about 2014. Something happened. We're not sure exactly

what. It may have been a singular event. It may have been a number of events, but something happened

to cause the family to really start reclusing into themselves. They believed the apocalypse was

coming, not necessarily that it was imminent in the very, very near future, but it was coming for

them at some point. And so they started to spend a lot more

time inside. They started to pretty much only spend time with each other. And it got so much so

that Hannah Gregg quit her job, Christopher quit his job, which he loved, and the children were all

homeschooled. This family was incredibly

religious, and this fed into their belief that the apocalypse was coming. They really didn't

want to engage with the outside world. They felt safe in their own home, and they didn't even

have a landline. The one that they did have earlier on was disconnected

and none of the members of the family had a mobile phone so they really were cut off.

Now with the kids being at home pretty continuously, even when the family would leave the

house, they all left together, they stayed side by side, not talking to anyone if they could help it. They felt
