But police would soon uncover that this was not just a single murder.

Our case today begins in the 1950s and it takes place in Great Falls in

Montana and this kind of place that we're going to is full of community. It's full of people

looking out for each other but also we are in the 1950s so that very much was a kind of thing that happened in those times.

It's January 13th, 1956 and there are three boys who are out enjoying a crisp winter morning

and they haven't gone back to school yet after the Christmas holidays, so they're enjoying their

last few days of fun. And they're out on this

walk, on this, they're just kind of hanging out with each other, as many young people do. And they get

to this dirt trail and they go down it and it leads to this place called Lovers Lane. Now,

Lovers Lane is somewhere that young couples would usually drive up to, especially at night. They would hang

out in their car away from the prang eyes of their parents. This was a very well-known

spot. But this is the daytime. It's not usual that people will be out there in their cars.

And so when the boys discover a car, they think it is maybe a little odd, but

nothing too extreme. But then they see that the car door is open, the lights are on and the

ignition is on. Why the lights are on in the daytime is a little bit confusing. And so one of

the boys walks round the side of the car and daytime is a little bit confusing and so one of the boys walks round the

side of the car and that is where he discovers the body of a man lying on the floor is this
