Times of darkness are certainly part of our journey in this life. But thank the Lord,

he never leaves us to face the darkness alone. One of the great blessings of the 23rd Psalm

When David said to the Lord, thou art with me,

there was a world of truth wrapped up in that statement.

It was certainly a confession of faith.

What was he saying?

He was saying that everything he needed was at hand because the Lord was at hand.

In the end of verse number four of Psalm 23, he said, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

So the protector was with him.

In verse five, he says, thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. So the provider was with him.

And then when you come to verse 6, we find this, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days

of my life. Now the preserver is with him. Now, the Lord is going to

protect his sheep. He's going to provide for his sheep, and he is going to preserve his sheep. And how long,

how long, forever? In the words of the psalmist, all the days of my life.

And how does he do that?

He does that.

The Bible says with his own goodness and with his own mercy.
