Times of darkness are certainly part of our journey in this life. But thank the Lord,

he never leaves us to face the darkness alone. One of the great blessings of the 23rd Psalm

is the promise of the shepherd's presence. Thou art with me. Let's join

Scott Pauley now as he continues this series, The Shepherd of the Shadows. In one of our previous studies, I pointed out to you that Psalm 23 begins in the shepherd's field and ends in the palace.

I listen to verse one and the end of verse six.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

This is, to me, I think, one of the most precious thoughts in Psalm 23 that, in fact, the Lord

meets us where we are, but praise God, he doesn't leave us there.

You know, you can't beat being a Christian. The Lord comes to live in your house now, that's your heart, and then you get to go

live in his house forever. That's the truth that is revealed to us in Psalm 23. The Lord has come to

us. Aren't you glad the Lord has come to us? We could never get to Him.

We could never get to heaven.

We could never get out of our own conditions.

So the Lord, our shepherd, came to us.

And then the Lord, beginning in verse number one, all the way down to verse number six,

graciously leads us, step by by step through the mountains and the

valleys, through the enemy territory, through every need, and where does he bring us in the end?
