Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. And let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

As we learn more about the Fifth Commandment, we have to ask, what are the false ideas that lead

to a widespread acceptance of euthanasia, of mercy killing. And in what subtle ways are those false

ideas wrecking our own spiritual lives? Well there are probably three dominant false ideas at work here. The first is

based on the idea that we can do what we want with ourselves because we belong to ourselves. The second comes from the idea

that suffering makes life unmeaning and the third comes from the idea that if someone's going to die anyway, then what difference does it make?

Each of these ideas is a horrible lie, and it's not only used to justify euthanasia these lies can

distort the truth of everyone's life so we need to consider them. Our father who art in heaven,
