Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

We've been meditating on the Fifth Commandment.

Thou shalt not kill. We've been meditating on the fifth commandment

thou shall not kill.

And you may be like me and ask,

how did we as a country come to the point

in which we legalized abortion?

Well, we, or at least a majority, wanted it.

That's why we can't get rid of it,

because people still want it. And now today a growing number of people want to

legalize euthanasia, assisted suicide. In fact, 10 states in the US have already made it legal.

A recent poll in England showed that 68% were for assisted suicide and 18% were unsure. That's more than 80%.

So we better be clear about the lie of euthanasia.

The dominant cultural conversation around suicide for the last generation or so has centered around

euthanasia. That is making suicide available, making suicide easy, getting the medical profession

involved in killing folks instead of healing them. And one of the arguments the pro-suicide people invoke is connected to the word

euthanasia, which means mercy killing. In other words, people say, listen, it's an act of mercy to kill people who are suffering.

It's an act of love.

They say, the ultimate standard of morality is compassion, and it's an act of compassion to help someone die

when they're hurting so much and when they don't want to live anymore. That's a wild idea that it could be an act of compassion to

kill another person. It shows that people do not understand either what compassion is or what
