Summary

In Part Two of Pamela Jones’ extraordinary story, the so-called “escape” she dreamed of at fifteen turns into a new kind of prison.

After growing up under the violent rule of the LeBaron brothers — a murderous offshoot of Mormon fundamentalism — Pamela marries young, believing it will be her salvation. Her husband David doesn’t just take her innocence — he takes her freedom, her home, and her dignity. She raises babies on rationed potatoes, lives under the threat of blood atonement, and tries to stay safe inside a community run by fear, hierarchy, and men who call their control “God’s will.”

But years later, and many sister wives later, something in Pamela begins to shift. A spark. A voice. A quiet rebellion forged from decades of silence.

This is the part of her journey where the cracks in the doctrine begin to show… and where Pamela realizes the only person coming to save her is herself.

0:55.8	But for the rest of us, here's a quick refresher from last week's part one, Pamela Jones.
1:01.0	She grew up inside a violent Mormon fundamentalist polygamy cult in Mexico, led by the infamous La Baron brothers.
1:10.2	Polygamy was all Pamela knew. It was the only way to get into heaven.
1:15.1	We met her father, a troubled, abusive man battling alcoholism, who had 11 wives, 57 children,
1:22.2	and a knack for breaking both commandments and the law.
1:26.5	We watched poverty wreak havoc on her family.
1:30.2	Hunger was as familiar as the flies in her outhouse and the dirt under her fingernails.
1:35.9	But by six years old, Pamela was forced to grow up,
1:39.5	becoming the caretaker to her five younger siblings while her mother worked.
1:45.0	By the time she turned 15, the only way out of that hell in her mind was through marriage.
1:51.0	And that's when a young man named David proposed.
