When Susan Hamlin walked into a police station confessing to plotting the murder of her husband,

officers thought that they were facing a monster. What they would soon learn, however, was that the

real monster was sat outside in the car waiting and he would be the one who would end up driving

Susan home.

So our case today revolves around a woman called Susan Hamlin. And Susan is a pretty

normal child. She has a very ordinary childhood. She grows up. She's quite close to her mom. She's very

close to her dad as well. And there really isn't anything huge to report on throughout her childhood

and her teenage years.

And really, the first kind of significant thing in this case happens when she starts university

or college in America. So she was attending law school and while she was there, she met this

man called Richard. And the pair got on immediately, Susan and Richard

were polar opposites. So Richard was incredibly outgoing, he was very charming, he would kind of

talk to everyone, and Susan was much quieter. She really kept herself to herself. She was popular

amongst her friends, but she certainly wasn't loud or massively outgoing. herself, she was popular amongst her friends, but she certainly wasn't loud

or massively outgoing. However, she was always top of the class. She worked incredibly hard,

she was incredibly smart, and this was a really attractive quality to Richard. And so it

wasn't long before he asked her out on a date. Richard later spoke about Susan, saying

quote, I was knocked out of my shoes by her. He was incredibly fascinated with her and as soon as

they started dating, he realized that she was the person he wanted to be with. He wanted to marry her.
