All right. We're in a series called Overwhelmed by Grace. Overwhelmed by

grace and that is my prayer. My prayer for all of us is that we would be overwhelmed by God's grace. How wonderful it is, how incredible

it is. And this week I want to talk about the law of grace.

The law of grace.

Here's the reason.

I don't think we really understand how we relate to the law

and how believers relate to the law,

because we covered two weeks ago that we are not under the law

and we understand that by Roman six but what is the law for what is the purpose of

the law and so I want to show you I believe Jesus was trying to share this

within his sermon on the mouth. If you remember he had to make a clarifying

statement you know don't think I came to destroy the law I think the reason he had to make

that clarifying statement was because he was full of grace and the Jewish

people the only way they understood how to know God or how to please God was through the law.

So grace steps on the earth and they didn't understand at all.

I think Paul had to make clarifying statements.

If you remember, Paul said, am I saying that the law is bad? Of course not.

He had to always make those. So look at this statement that Jesus says and then we're

going to talk about the four purposes of the law. Matthew chapter 5 verse 17.

Matthew 5 verse 17. Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets.

I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

For assuredly I say to you till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law until all is fulfilled.
