This week I want to talk to you about the gift of grace.

And I want us to catch it more than we've ever caught it before

that grace is a gift.

It cannot be earned.

It can only be received.

So I want to show you this great story.

Acts chapter 16, many people have heard this story.

It's about Paul and Silas being thrown in jail.

And while they're in jail, they have no idea about their fate.

They're actually beaten while they're in jail.

And then they're put in chains, and they really don't know if they're going to be stone the next day,

if they're going to be killed.

But around midnight midnight the Bible

says they started singing and praising God and an earthquake happened and

their chains fell off.

Now I heard one older pastor say that he thought that because the Bible says that

heaven is God's throne and the earth is his footstool, that when they started praising God and singing

God started tapping his big toe and that caused the earthquake.

So then the jailer runs in because of this earthquake and because their chains are

falling off and that's where we pick up the story all right. Act 16 verse 29 says
