Chief Justice McCormick actually notified

Governor Gretchen Whitmer of her plans to retire from the bench

in the fall last year and retired as of December 31, 2022.

But she was the 108th Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court

and the 9th woman to serve on the court

and served on the court for a decade before her retirement.
