The words we say to our children, regardless of their age, will have a lasting impact on them.

I've had a couple of conversations with daughters about guys and their interest in dating certain guys and I leave the

conversation thinking they really didn't hear my heart on this and a week or

two or a month later I find out, oh no, Dad, we were totally listening and we acted

on what you were saying.

We accepted your advice and acted on it.

So don't give up, even if it seems like they're not listening to you.

relational interactions so they really hear you and know your love for them.

Gack, we can have words that don't have impact but

you've you've counseled so many families I'm sure you've seen situations where

words did go deep and they connected.

And I've seen them go positive and negative.

Words can create a ton of damage,

but it can also be tremendously building, and I've seen both in counseling which has

been fantastic.

Seeing on the negative side the destructive bringing that to light can be powerfully

freeing for a person.

I remember this one young man, he said, well, Danny, my dad said that I'm never going

to amount to anything.
