Summary

Earlier this year Lance was offered an opportunity to tour the San Quentin Prison and speak to the inmates currently enrolled in The Last Mile program. TLM teaches current inmates the job of coding with the hopes of earning employment in the tech world up their release. After his tour Lance talked with Chris Redlitz, the founder or TLM, about how he created the program and his initial hesitation to accept the invite. Lance also talked with Kenyatta Leal and Chris Schumacher about their experience in TLM. They discuss how they learned to code, job prospects upon release and starting relationships post incarnation. 0:09.5	that I spent a day at the San Quentin prison just outside of San Francisco speaking to a group
0:17.5	there called the Last Mile which is a basically a resource for prisoners to educate themselves, learn how to code.
0:29.2	And so when they eventually get out of prison, they have a skill and potentially have a job,

0:37.3	I have to tell you, I was super inspired by my day at San Quentin and especially the group The Last Mile, hats off to Chris Redlitz who founded

1:18.8	Julia Polarino, also from Team We Do.
1:25.0	So thanks to Todd Sadeau, his entire crew, especially all the volunteers who do such an amazing job
1:29.0	trying to keep 4,000 people in 24-hour town completely sane and safe.
1:35.0	You know, the good news is is none of us left swearing that we would never go back.
