Summary

THE EVAN JAGER SPECIAL

Evan Jager is one of the most decorated and accomplished runners in US Distance history.

Evan is the American Record Holder in the Steeplechase, along with the Rio Olympic Silver Medalist in the Steeple and London World Championships Silver Medalist in the Steeple. On top of these feats, Evan has won a US title at the Steeplechase SEVEN times.

He is one of the original members of Nike's Bowerman Track Club having dropped out of college (not to sound dramatic, he was just really fast and went pro) to follow Coach Jerry Schumacher.

Evan holds PRs of 3:32 (1500m), 8:00.45 (Steeplechase), 7:35 (3000m), and 13:02 (5000m).

Evan is a 2xUS Olympian.

In today's conversation, Evan takes me through his life updates which includes moving to a new country, his reflections on his 2024 season, how to deal with disappointment, how much longer he plans to run for, lessons on how to become great at the sport of running, and so much more.

This episode is a true treat. A lot of Evan Jager updates mixed with unparalleled wisdom from the legend himself.

Evan is one of those runners that I looked up to throughout the entirety of my upbringing

0:11.1

in the sport.

0:12.1

He's an absolute legend who has been here, honestly, from before the time I got into following

0:18.0

the sport of running, and he's still getting after it. He plays fourth at this

0:22.1

past year's U.S. Olympic trials in the steeple chase and in that event, he's probably the greatest

0:27.9

American male distance runner at that event. He is the American record holder in the steeple

0:33.1

chase along with the Rio Olympic silver medalist in the steeple and London World Championship silver

0:39.1

medalist in the steeple. On top of those crazy feats, Evan has won a U.S. title at the steeple

0:43.9

chase seven times. He's one of the original members of Nike's Bowerman track club. He talks about

0:50.0

that in today's episode. He was there before it was even a thing before it was even the Nike

0:54.7

Bowerman track club. I think that's when it was just the Oregon track club. He dropped out of

0:58.6

college after one year to follow his coach, Coach Jerry Schumacher. He holds PRs of 332 in the

1:04.6

1500, 8 flat point 45 in the steeplechase, 735 in the 3 13-02 in the 5K. He's also a two-time U.S. Olympian,

1:13.5

but he's making a lot of changes. He recently moved to a new country and continent and has

1:18.9

a fresh perspective on the sport and his future within it. I will leave this intro kind of short,

1:24.3

even though I'm kind of rambling here, and just let you get to the wisdom and substance of the man the myth, the legend, Evan Jagger. I hope you guys enjoy this one. I thoroughly

1:32.4

enjoyed it. And if you do enjoy it, please consider sharing it with a friend, a family member,

1:36.5

a teammate, someone you think would find value and benefit from it. With all of those notes aside,

1:41.5

guys, go lace up the shoes, put in the AirPods, and enjoy the wisdom of Evan Jagger.
