0:41.4	pray in Jesus' name. And then she said, I'll be praying for you. What the heck does that mean?
0:48.0	For several weeks after that, I noticed myself super aware to make sure I always said it. I didn't want her to think I wasn't a real Christian.
0:57.0	But what's the why? Do we say in Jesus' name, I pray because it's a tagline, do we say it because it matters?
1:04.8	If I don't say it, does it mean my prayers aren't authentic?
1:08.5	That I'm not a Christian, that God doesn't hear them?
1:11.8	Hebrew 10 helps us answer this question.
1:15.2	Why do we say in Jesus' name I pray?
1:19.0	It's not merely a mechanical expression that we tack on to the end of our prayers. It's not a magical
1:24.8	saying intended to make our prayers more powerful. It's not a phrase to impress the
1:29.6	people who are listening to our prayers. The important thing is that our prayer really be in
1:34.8	Jesus name, which means we understand him as our only mediator with God. He is the
1:41.6	only way we have access to our Heavenly Father. And because of him we do have
1:47.2	access to our Heavenly Father. See, before Christ died, people had to go to a priest
1:53.2	to be the mediator between them and God.
