Once upon a time, the flea, the grasshopper and the frog were arguing over which one could jump the highest. So they decided to find out.

They invited the whole world to come and watch.

The king of all animals, who was himself a rather large toad, announced,

I shall give my daughter's hand in marriage to him who jumps highest,

if she shall have him, that is, for it would not be a competition if there were no prize for the winner.

The princess was also a toad,

but she was quite a bit daintier than her father.

And so, the three competitors met in the ring.

The flea entered first.

He was graceful and had very good manners,

and he bowed in all directions.

I am the flea, and I shall jump highest, he exclaimed.

The crowd cheered.

Then came the grasshopper, who was most certainly heavier than the flea, but he was quite fit.
