Once upon a time, there lived a man and a woman,

who were very poor and had nothing but a little cottage. They earned their bread by fishing.

It was never enough, but they made do. Then, one day, just like every other day, the fisherman

went to the water's edge and cast his net. And when he pulled it in, he found a fish made entirely of gold.

It cannot be, he said to himself.

Oh, but it is, said the fish.

The fisherman was so surprised he almost dropped the fish.

Fisherman, if you throw me back into the water, I will change your hut into the most marvelous castle.

What good would a castle do me?

I have nothing to eat.

That can be arranged.

There will be a cupboard in the kitchens.

Whenever you open it, you will find the most tender meats, sweetest sweets, and anything you so desire.

Then a deal is struck, said the fisherman.

But wait, there is one condition.

You shall never utter a word of this to anyone.

Your good luck must remain a secret. For if you even utter a word of it,

all will be gone in an instant. The man put the fish gently back into the water and went home.

When he arrived, he found that the fish was telling the truth.
