I saw something, something pretty random actually, that made me think about a specific aspect of walking.

I want to tell you about something I saw the other day while I was working in my home office.

I have an office in my house, front of the house, big window.

We live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina,

and you might think I'm going to tell you that my view is of the ocean.

It's not.

The ocean is about a mile away from where we live.

Actually, it might be two miles.

The view that I have out my home office window is of the street in front of our home,

the sidewalks on both sides of the street,

and a handful of the homes that I can see while I'm sitting there.

And I am easily distracted when something happens to go by the house,

whether it's a car or a truck, someone on a bike, which actually happens quite frequently.

We live near a bike store and they'll take customers out who are considering

buying bikes. They'll take them out on test rides and they often ride past our house. And I know

it's a customer and a salesperson from the bike store because it's the same salesperson

every time who's taking the potential customers out

and riding past our house. So I noticed that. Someone goes running past our house. I'll notice that.

And if someone's just walking, I'll notice that as well. I'm easily distracted.
