0:00.0	In our world, there is so much sorrow, misery, and sadness.
0:12.6	We see indicators all around us that reveal to us that most people are looking for something,
0:18.2	anything, that can bring them true joy. In this study on joy,
0:23.5	Scott Pauley will take us to God's Word and help us discover the source of true, lasting joy.
0:30.0	And as we study the Bible together, we will find that God's joy is readily available to us

0:44.8	You don't have to wait until you die or the rapture takes place to experience the joy of the

0:56.1	But the Lord's joy is our provision at this moment, and that is because we have the Lord
1:02.7	at this moment. We return today to John chapter 16. In our last study, we studied these beautiful
1:10.0	verses where Jesus referred to the future joy.
1:13.1	When sorrow turns to joy, it's the joy of Christ's return.
1:16.7	But I stopped in verse number 23, and Jesus did not.
1:21.8	In verse 23, he talked about the day that they would not have to ask him for something.
1:27.3	They would be able to go straight to the father because they would not have to ask him for something. They would be able to go straight to the
1:29.0	father because they would be with the father. But he continues in verse 24 and he says,
1:34.1	hitherto have ye ask nothing in my name. Ask and ye shall receive that your joy may be full.
1:44.8	This is very important because he's been talking to them in the future tense,
1:49.7	some days joy when they see him again,
1:52.7	but now he speaks in the present tense.
1:56.4	What is this?
1:57.2	This is the joy of answered prayer.
