I'm Mark Stephen.

Scotland is blessed with umpteen long distance walking trails. But one that I personally haven't done

is something called the John O'Grote's trail. Now it runs from Inverness all the way up to

John O'Grote's, understandably. And it was the brainchild of a guy called Jay Wilson. Now I met

you a few years ago

when this was still in the planning stage, and they were trying to work at how they were going

to do it and where it was going to go and through whose land it was going to go through.

When I say it's finished, it may never be finished, but you can do it nowadays. It's possible to actually walk the John O' Groot's Trail. And I met up with Jay in Golsby, which is on the route,

just to talk about what the process had been like and what he'd learned from it.

We're here in Gullsby, which is one of the communities along the trail at the end of stage six of the trail.

And it's fitting that we're meeting here because the trail goes through so many communities

along the coast.

And we've been trying to work with the communities to make the trail not just a long-distance

trail, but also a local amenity for everyone along the east coast of Sutherland, the Caithness, and to some extent, East of Ross.

Yeah. You're just sitting on the boot of your car and you refer to it as the trailmobile?
