let alone the original plan of Sacramento to San Diego. They knew it because they were never going to get private investor money. None of the private investors were interested in investing

a dime because by law, no tax money could ever be used for operational purposes.

And you have to have tax money to operate a train like that because every bullet train in the world is paid for, at least in part, by taxpayer money.

They all lose money on an operating basis.

They all have to get subsidized.
