to get Norm Langer on right away. You may have heard over the weekend. There was a story in the Los Angeles

Times that Norm Langer is thinking of closing Langer's

Deli, which has been around for 77 years. He's 79, and the neighborhood near MacArthur Park

is just terrible. It's been a problem for a while, but now it's just gotten so bad, he's thinking of

shutting down the restaurant, which would be a tragedy. It's one of the finest, it's not only the

finest deli in Los Angeles. It's one of the greatest ones in the whole country ever. And a lot of

people got very upset, and the ensuing publicity got him a meeting with Karen Bass.

So we're going to talk with Norm Langar right now.

And Norm, thank you for taking some time to talk to us.

I know you're getting besieged by television cameras at the deli there.

So thanks a lot.

So tell me how the meeting went.

We all know what the issues are.

Well, I had two meetings.

I had one meeting yesterday with our mayor, Karen Bass, and I had another meeting today

with Jose Rodriguez, who was one of the directors for our councilwoman for the area

of Eunice Hernandez. And during both those meetings were very similar. I went over what I believe

are the immediate problems in the area that need to be handled.
