Thanks for coming on. I went to your event, as you know, last week, and I was really struck by how the way you were presenting yourself, that you just, you don't want to do anything radical

by historic standards here in L.A. You just want to go back to the policies we had

as recently as, you know, even 10 years ago. Absolutely. I mean, it's, what I say is I reject

extreme blanket policies. George Gascon has adopted what he calls decarceration policies.

Those are policies that let violent and serious offenders

out before they serve their full sentences and don't have them prosecuted to the full extent of the law

on the front end. But I also reject extreme mass incarceration policies. They also didn't work.

Where I come down is the middle, and I call it the hard middle, because it doesn't allow you to rely on lazy blanket policies, but you have to look at each individual case.

The defendant's background, the crime committed, the impact on the victim to determine who the true threats are to our public safety and need to be behind bars, and quite candidly, the ones that aren't.
