We're going to talk with the Yolo County District Attorney,

Jeff Rising, about this ongoing story for several weeks now. Prop 47 has been on the ballot and

ruin the state. It's been 10 years. And there is a measure to largely repeal Prop 47. That can be

on the ballot in November. 900,000 signatures got it there.

And the Democrats and the legislature have been panicking. The governor, they've come up with a

myriad of strategies to try to derail this. And since we're getting close to the deadline where

the proposition is either going to be on for sure

or not, we thought we'd talk with Jeff and tell us what the latest is. Jeff Rizig, welcome.

Thank you for having me. Appreciate it. So there's been a lot going on. They've wanted to negotiate.

Newsom has wanted to negotiate with the district attorneys group that got this on the ballot.

Somehow change it, I guess.

They wanted to run these retail theft bills with a poison pill so that if the repeal of Prop 47 happened, it would destroy the retail theft provisions.

They had another mystery thing they wanted to put on the ballot this week, but there was never any detail.

It's been confusing, and there hasn't been much news coming out in the last few days.

So what's going on?

Yeah, it has been really confusing,

and it's just, frankly, it's just been more dirty tricks. And so as you mentioned, the bills with the poison pills, their own bills, they're still out there lurking. They haven't voted on
