We're going to have at 1.30 San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan on.

He is one of a number of prominent Democrat leaders who are going public and saying they support Prop 36,

the big revision of Prop 47 from 10 years ago, so that we start treating

retail theft as crime, public drug use is crime, fentanyl dealing as crimes.

And he's for Prop 36, and he had a public event with a number of other Democratic officials

yesterday.

So it's a sea change among

some, not all Democrats. And we have Blake Trolley in here now, because today Newsom signed

that collection of retail theft bills, which is their answer to the Prop 47 revision? No. In fact,

Newsom today in signing these bills said that the crimes that are being addressed today have

nothing to deal with Prop 47. We'll go right to it. Eric, if we can go to bite zero.

These bills will strengthen existing laws.

They'll enhance other laws.

And they will address the challenges that are well outside the purview of previous initiatives

and laws like Prop 47.

And that's the issue of organized retail theft, the issue of serial theft.

It's the issue that is front and center in the consciousness
