And then in not-so-happy news of what we're here to talk about, It has been just over a year since October 7th.

This is a really heavy week for lots of people and different communities.

I saw in your Instagram that you attended a ritual led by JVP Portland, Jewish Voice for Peace Portland. And it looked like it was perhaps a cathartic gathering, one in which people were grieving,

but were also all about action. Talk to me about what that was like.

Yeah, it's called Tachlake, something you can usually do on the first day of Rosh Hashanah,

but where you cast bread or stones out into a body of water and sort of imagining of costing out the sins we hope to atone for.

And like you kind of mentioned, Jewish Voice for Peace often integrates Jewish ritual and tradition into organizing.

You know, if we think our tradition is one that tells a story about liberation and how to heal the world,

then it's sort of tying that directly there.

And they are launching a campaign specifically about divesting from Israel bonds, which a lot of individuals own, but so do companies and universities,

which then directly go to sort of like fund Israeli state projects can be used for defense and for policing and things like that also.

So it's part of that divestment program, thinking a year in and what we know and what we've seen.

So engaging people on this year's cycle of remembrance and atonement and healing in that journey

and then tying it back to some of the practical action.
